The experiment failed. It was a shining hope for us all, but the weakness of a few has darkened that light for everyone. However, we will survive. We must. Our purpose is too great to be halted, and no cost is too great in the service of our Lord. The world is lost, and its people are doomed to Hell and don't even know it. It falls to us, and our enduring Society to save them. We alone can offer them salvation, and their salvation lies here in Echo Lake where they belonged all along. Go, save them all. They are frightened and know not what awaits them if they refuse us, so give them no choice. ABOUT THE GAME All religions need followers, and all gods need believers to breathe life into them and keep them strong. The town of Echo Lake was considered a quiet tourist town for a long time. Its main attractions were the stunning natural lake and the rich local history surrounding the town - once sacred Native American ground, the town had even been used as a Civil War prison in the past before its conversion to a tourist resort. Every town has its beginnings, though, and the first settlers of the new Echo Lake came seeking the ever-elusive freedom of religion - a freedom that, once found, many are unwilling to give in return. The group formed a religion called The Society, a strange new cult that deviated wildly from the different sects of Christianity that were feuding at the time. The Society worshiped a new god, and through ceremonies and sacrifices they discovered how to harness her power. It was power enough to kill, and power enough to save. Soon, that power separated Echo Lake from reality, placing it on its own plane entirely - a place where the Society's god rules; where her power is absolute. The members saw opportunity to reach out beyond their plane of existence, to the unknowing masses damned to hell, and bring them to their everlasting paradise. They saw it as saving souls, a sacred mission they must carry out. And with every new soul they brought to Echo Lake, their god grew more and more powerful. Welcome to Echo Lake. Don't worry!
